Pray Boldly

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16

Have you ever wondered if God really hears you when you pray, or if your words just bounce off the ceiling? Hebrews 4:16 calls us to approach God's throne of grace with confidence.

The writer of Hebrews was speaking to believers who felt weak and unsure. They faced trials, temptations, and fears that God might turn them away.

But the verse reminds us that Jesus, our perfect High Priest, has opened the way for us. He knows our struggles, because He came here and faced every kind of weakness, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) That is why we can come, not with fear, but with boldness, coming boldly to God in prayer.

The throne of grace is not a place of judgment for us. It's a place where mercy flows, and grace is always ready to welcome us.

God does not ask us to clean ourselves up before we come. He invites us as we are, tired, anxious, guilty, or needy.

The boldness here is not arrogance. It's a childlike trust that God is willing and able to help. Just as Jesus promised, “Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7)

You do not have to hide your struggles or pretend to be strong. You can bring every need, every fear, every sin to God in prayer. He is not annoyed by your requests. He is not too busy. In fact, He delights to welcome you and hear from you. Think of the blind man who cried to Jesus even when others told him to be quiet.

Jesus stopped and asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” (Mark 10:51).  Jesus honored bold, honest faith and gave him the welcome he sought.

When you pray, remember that your confidence does not rest on your performance, but on the finished work of Jesus. He died and rose again to bring you near to God. As our High Priest, He is always interceding for you. You can rest in this. God's throne of grace is open and His heart is kind, ready to welcome all who approach through Christ.

Are you weary? Are you ashamed? Do you feel unworthy? Jesus invites you to approach His throne of grace, not because you are strong, but because He is.

Prayer is not a test you must pass. It is a gift purchased by His blood. Through Jesus, our High Priest, we find the perfect welcome at God's throne, finding rest and help in Jesus. We discover that every prayer offered with confidence is heard by our loving Father. When we ask in Jesus' name, we can trust that mercy and grace will meet us exactly where we are.

Remember, you are never turned away from God's throne of grace when you come through Jesus. He offers you the warmest welcome, ready to help. Trust Him. Approach with confidence. Ask boldly. In Christ you will find rest and help for your soul.

Father, You are full of mercy and grace. Forgive me for doubting Your welcome and hiding my needs. Thank You for Jesus, our High Priest, who opened the way for us to approach Your throne of grace. Cause me to pray with confidence, coming boldly to You in prayer, trusting Your love every day. In Jesus' name we pray.
